Medium: Graphite on paper and digital editing

This is an illustration I made for my friend Jhanae Ottey's published poetry anthology Yet the World Kept Turning. Informed by the sincere prose of growth, girlhood, and nature that fills the pages, I wanted to create an image that reflected the maturity and grace of the author. The illustration is an abstraction of an eternal woman with the skin texture of tree bark and imagery of her hair as ever expanding leaves, representing the natural wisdom that she embodies.
