When we M.e.t.

Tori Gomez

This woodcut print is titled “When We M.E.T.”, which is speaking on the connection between me and my mom during her pregnancy— she held me in her stomach and her heart. I chose this specific wording because I feel like it lends me my own autonomy that’s not often given to babies, signifying her and me as peers on an equal ground that strengthens our bond. The acronym M.E.T. here stands for “Mezcla, Espacio, Tiempo”, a set of words I feel circulate between her and me as I attend college across the country from her.
